How can I hide my HeavyMetal?

Using HeavyMetal is straightforward and user-friendly. On each row, punch out the letters for each seed phrase word.
For example, if your first seed phrase word is “APPLE,” punch out the holes on the first row under A, P, L, and E.

No additional tools are needed beyond a household hammer. Your HeavyMetal package includes everything required to punch your seed phrase:

  • 1 x HeavyMetal Card

  • 1 x Acrylic Template

  • 1 x Base

  • 1 x Roll Pin Punch

  • 4 x Screws & Nuts

HeavyMetal cards are engineered to endure extreme conditions. Whether facing fire, water, or physical impact, your seed phrase remains securely intact, offering unparalleled peace of mind.

Our cards are the result of an intricate and demanding manufacturing process. Utilizing high-precision laser cutting technology, each card is crafted to meet our rigorous standards for quality and resilience. This meticulous process, refined over more than a year of prototyping and testing dozens of designs, ensures that every HeavyMetal card delivers the ultimate seed storage security.

With dimensions comparable to a credit card, HeavyMetal can be easily stored in your wallet or any secure location where you keep your most valuable cards, such as your ID or credit cards.

What if I can't remember my seed phrase words by looking at my card?

Seed phrases are crafted from a standardized set of words known as BIP39, and the sequence in which these words are arranged is crucial for your seed phrase's integrity.

Here is the complete list of the BIP39 words that you can reference with your card’s rows.

Is a 24-word seed phrase more secure than a 12-word seed phrase?

To put it in perspective, a 12-word phrase has 10^39 combinations (that's a 1 with 39 zeros!), while a 24-word phrase has 10^79 combinations (a 1 with 79 zeros!).

For context, there are about 10^18 grains of sand on Earth, 10^23 stars in the universe, and 10^82 atoms in the universe.

So, yes, 24 words are more complex. However, when it comes to actual wallet security, a 12-word phrase is already extremely secure. Wallets use 128-bit entropy, which corresponds to 12 words. Adding more words increases complexity but doesn't significantly enhance security because the extra words aren’t utilized in the seed creation process.

Additionally, 12 words are much easier to record, back up, and keep safe. So, while a 24-word phrase may seem more secure, a 12-word phrase is more than sufficient and far more user-friendly.
